James Moore travelled to Mansfield to contest round 7 of the Notts & Derby Cyclo-cross League.
Berry Hill Park was the venue for a fast dry course featuring woodland and open parkland.
With James not being a league regular he was gridded to the rear at the start.
With ample of opportunity to overtake, James rode intelligently making his way past the slower riders each lap.
Just as he joined the head of the race Nathan Miller, Derby Mercury, attacked and went on to take the victory.
James chased all the way to the finish line to secure a superb second place in the veterans race.
