Summer Series
The first race of the Northants Cycle Racing Association Summer Series of Handicap Road Races was held over 5 tough laps of the 6 mile Naseby-Cold Ashby-Thornby circuit. The scratch group of Mike Cowland, David Weir and Dave Palmer, all of www.cyclingbargains.co.uk never overcame their 10 minute handicap leaving the top ten places to be fought over by the middlemarkers.
The winner was BC Private Member Matthew Smith in 1.22.54, closely followed in second place by Alan West of 45 RC, then Rob Jacks of Welland Valley CC, Kev Hardwick of Wootton Tri, Vic Barnett of Welland Valley CC, Nick Horder of Welland Valley CC, Alex Fry of Welland Valley CC, Chris Rimes of Fenland Clarion CC and Martin Hamilton of 45 RC - all credited with the same time as the winner. In tenth place was Paul Crane of Rockingham Forest Wheelers.

53 entries have been taken for the Summer Series. Some changes have been made to the published programme.
£60 for series in advance, £70 for series on the line at first race, £15 for entry on line for single race (subject to spaces on the day). All races start at 7.15 pm and are over 48 kms.
