Please ensure the Whizz Kids come with plenty of fluids.

A grass Velodrome, complete with music and roving commentator, will be created on Welland Park Grass Tennis Courts, the current Go-Ride skills venue for the young people.

The Whizz Kids will be split into 4 equal teams.
Team HOY (Red bibs)
Team WIGGINS (Yellow bibs)
Team PENDLETON (Green Bibs)
Team ROMERO (no bibs)

The emphasis is on TEAM BUILDING and FUN races.

Event Programme

Event No 1. TEAM SPRINT - Each team rider must complete one lap of the track in relay format. The winning team is the first team to be seated on the ground with every team-mate having completed one lap.

Event No 2. MUSICAL CONES > Every rider will circle the track, when the music stops the riders must stop by a cone. The riders who cannot find a cone are eliminated until we are left with one rider stopped by a cone. Riders eliminated are encouraged to cheer on their team-mates.

Event No 3. 8 yrs and under KEIRIN > The younger riders will line up behind one of the older Whizz Kids, they follow behind for one and a half lap, at a very slow pace. When the leader peels off the track they are free to sprint round to cross the finish line. Older Whizz Kids to encourage team-mates.

Event No 4. 9 yrs and above KEIRIN > Same format as above but this time a young Whizz Kids will set the pace for 3 laps, leaving the older Whizz Kidsto sprint round one complete circuit. Younger Whizz Kids to encourage team-mates.

Event No 5. SLOW BICYCLE RACE > On the blast of the whistle every rider must move forward off the start line and ride as slow as possible in a straight line. The rider last over the finish line is the winner.

Event No 6. THE DEVIL > The 9 yrs and over will start on the Finish line, the younger Whizz Kids will start directly behind giving them a lap head start. As the riders cross the finish line the last 3 Whizz Kids over the line will be eliminated from the race.
When there are only 4 riders left it will be straight sprint to the finish between those 4 Whizz Kids.
Riders eliminated are encouraged to cheer on their team-mates.
