For one day only a section of grass in Welland Park, Market Harborough was transformed into a Velodrome to enable 48 Whizz Kids to experience the Grass Track Extravaganza.
The grass Velodrome complete with music, team cabins, signing on control, 130m track with buzz words in place of advertising and spectators pens transformed the area of the Green Flag park.
The Whizz Kids were split into 4 equal teams.
Team HOY (Red bibs) – Team Manager Kevin.
Team WIGGINS (Blue bibs) – Team Manager George.
Team PENDLETON (Green Bibs) – Team Managers Gaye and Sophie
Team ROMERO ( Yellow bibs) – Team Manager Ade
The session was built on the emphasis of TEAM BUILDING and FUN races based on track events.

Plenty of high quality racing was interspersed with drinks breaks in the team cabins to talk tactics or just to rest up for the next event.
The Devil was a very interesting race and proved to be an endurance event as the judges attempted to remove a number of riders each lap – I take full responsibility :O).
With 48 racers blasting round the Velodrome the bike handling skills and spatial awareness was first class as everyone completed the event safely.
We did have a couple of crashes earlier but both riders were soon up and charging round the track.
The atmosphere created by a good crowd added to the occasion.
