The penultimate race of the Northants Cycle Racing Association Summer Handicap series was held over 5 laps of the 6 mile Southwick circuit on Tuesday. The handicapper succeeded in producing a fine bunch finish, exciting for riders and spectators, though hellish for the judges.

The winner, in 1.18.45, was James Cambridge of Team I Ride, followed by Dave Palmer of cyclingbargains RT, John Peters of Bedfordshire Roads CC, Matthew Smith, BC Private Member, Tom Sexton of Welland Valley CC, Joe Norledge of Welland Valley CC, gaining his first top ten finish, Mike Cowland of cyclingbargains RT, Bradley Burbidge of cyclingbargains RT, Martin Jones of Fenland Clarion CC, with David Weir of cyclingbargains RT making up the top ten.

With one race to go, the leading contenders for the series prizes are Matthew Smith on 53 points, Rob Jacks of Welland Valley on 50 points, Alan West of 45 Road Club on 49 points, Ian Wild of Peterborough CC on 40 points and Adam Fisher of Cambridge CC on 37 points.
