Depending on numbers we tend to have two or three groups each Sunday. This keeps the pace of each group comfortable for all the riders. The groups are as follows:
Group One
Steady club run, about 13/14mph average, around 50 miles with cafe stop. Designed for those who just want to have a nice and steady ride, those returning from injury, and beginners.
Group Two
Middle markers group. Ideal for those who have trained all week and want to loosen off, averaging around 15/16mph with a cafe stop.
Group Three
Quicker ride, usually about 17/18mph, around 60-80miles sometimes with a cafe stop. Designed for those wanting a harder, quicker ride, those training for races or events such as the Etape du Tour, and those who have developed fitness and want to push it! Usually ran by the Club Captain. This is NOT a race however, just a quick training run. Occasionally riders may opt to add miles on towards the end but this tends to be agreed on the day.
Because of the diversity of members extra runs may be accommodated to allow a steadier run but this will be decided on the day (Group Zero).
On most occasions the groups shall be going to the same cafe, allowing everyone to have a chat. Cafe stops are optional, so those who want to keep riding or get home early can do. As ever, regardless of the group that you are riding in, we request that you bring money (for the cafe), a pump, a spare inner tube/repair kit, and suitable clothing. Should you be having one of those 'off days' and can't keep up, someone/everyone shall wait for people unless you specifically advise you don't want to be waited for. However, we do ask that you reach a minimum standard in order to ensure the enjoyment of the whole group. If you are not capable of riding at about 15mph for about 30 miles, then it is only fair to advise you that you may find the runs a little fast.
