Go-Ride Racing

A Quick Guide to Go-Ride Racing

The Step Up

British Cycling is aware that there is a big step up from school and club coaching sessions to regional level competition. Young people who are new to the sport, whether they have joined a Go-Ride club or simply taken part in school coaching sessions can find the concept of racing very daunting. Turning up at your first race to find that a lot of the riders have far greater experience and what looks like very specialist equipment has often proved to be a barrier to competition for many riders new to the sport.

Where Does Go-Ride Racing Come In?

It is a new and exciting competition programme which helps young riders make a more gradual step up from school or club coaching sessions to inter club and regional competition. Go-Ride Racing events offer entry level, local competition for young cyclists under the age of 16. BC Racing Licences are NOT required and the events are strictly aimed at novice racing cyclists.

Note: Racing licences will be required when making the step up to regional level competition.
