Welland Valley CC club member Andrew Ayears is taking part in a cycle charity ride in France for three days towards the end of September (22nd - 24th) riding as one of a four man team and would like to ask for your support...
We are a team of four cyclists and friends; Andrew Ayears, Dave Buckingham, Tony Goodman and Phil Gudgeon, taking up the ‘Extra Mile Challenge’ of riding 500 miles in three days.
The spectacular route around Brittany in France is covered in a relay with each cyclist covering approx. 45 miles a day typically in four or five stages, those who are particularly keen will cycle in pairs and increase their mileage, Dave and I will try to cover as much of the route as possible. The route starts at Chartres, runs through Rennes, finishing on day three at Caen in Normandy. The journey will allow for some reflection as we pass by the 1944 D-Day landing beaches of Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword.
75% of the teams sponsorship goes to the charity of their choice, we have two chosen charities which are Keech Hospice and Chums Charity. The remaining sponsorship goes to the three other charities chosen by the organisers and to the Rotary charitable funds; The Pituitary Foundation, Carers in Bedfordshire and MIND.
Keech is a local hospice that provides free care to all young and old alike. They need to raise £5m per year to continue operating.
Chums provide Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing services for children and is very personal to Dave and Tony as Chums helped their colleague's child after they sadly lost him on their ride 10 years ago.
Please may I ask that you visit our Just Giving page set up by team member Dave Buckingham to make a donation, and to use a well known strapline, ‘every little helps’?
You can help me raise money for these great causes by donating directly to the fundraising page...
JustGiving sends your donation straight to Extra Mile Challenges and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more.
Thank you for your support,
Andrew is 3rd from the left, yellow helmet and yellow socks :-)
