Day 2 - National Trophy - Mud, mud and more mud

A trio of younger members contested day 2 of the National Trophy Cyclo-cross at Shrewsbury. 
Overnight rain and the previous days racing ensured it was going to be a muddy affair. 
Taking the step up from league racing to contesting a National event was Fraser Ayears.
The junior Welland rider produced consistent laps times over the 45 minute race to finish a strong 36th. 
Fay Garner approached the Under 14 girls race in the correct attitude, she was determined to beat the course. The young lady slipped & slided to 20th place. 
Dom Switzer was the final club member to face the tough strength sapping course. As the sun made an appearance the wet mud was starting to clag and riders where having to run more and carry their machine. 
It was a long race, nearly 40 minutes, and as Dom crossed the line he finished 30th place.

Busy in the pits supporting where family members for all three riders as they dealt with regular swapping of bikes to maintain momentum.

This coming the weekend the Leicestershire League returns as over 30 Welland riders will take to the start line on a course around Beaumont Park Leicester.
