Circuit

The race starts outside the HQ on Haselbech Road, Naseby. Proceed to Haselbech, bearing left and continuing to the junction with the A508 north of Maidwell. Turn left onto A508 (showing extreme caution) and continue through Kelmarsh to Great Oxendon. Turn left in Great Oxendon (climb), following narrow road towards East Farndon. South of East Farndon turn left at T-Junction with B4036. Continue along B4036 through Clipston (care) towards Naseby (climb) to complete the lap.

The finish will be on the B4036 on the bridge over the A14, which is approximately 1 Km north of Naseby Village Hall and the end of the lap.

Results

Heavy rainfall did not deter the 45 riders on the 130 km AA Brown sponsored E, 1, 2, 3 Road Race held by Welland Valley CC on Sunday 24th July. By mid point a group of 4 containing Matthew Stephens, Paul Manning, Matt Bottril and Benoit Lagorce had a 30 second lead over Russell Downing, Mark Lovatt and Mike Harrison. The severe weather conditions were reducing the field on each lap. On the 4th lap the 7 riders came together, with 1 lap to go the break gained 9 minutes 20 seconds over Richard Hunt (Team Bradgate) and Martin Smith (Team Milton Keynes), with the remnants of the field at 11 minutes 26 seconds.

By the finish Russell Downing was the convincing winner with a 27 gap over Paul Manning, making it a clear 1, 2 for Recycling.co.uk. Mark Lovatt of Planet X, the previous winner of the event, and Matt Stephens taking 3rd and 4th respectively. French Elite rider Benoit Lagorce finished 5th at 40 seconds followed by Matt Bottril and Mike Harrison. Over 15 minutes later Martin Smith and Richard Hunt survived the bunch sprint which was led in at 16 minutes 40 seconds by Ian Cooper of Zenith CC.
